A: Classified Salaried Exempt employees do not need to enter Exchange time earned; EmpCenter will automatically convert any regular hours over 40 in a week to exchange time.

Classified Hourly employees are expected to clock in and out for the work day using the Web Clock and use the time off request process for pre-approved leave.
The time entry process is used for times when clocking is unavailable, to record select differentials, or to record time off that was not pre-planned.

Classified Salaried Exempt employees are expected to enter elapsed worked hours (e.g. 8, 9.5) on the timesheet and use the time off request process for pre-approved leave.
The time entry process can also be used for recording of select differentials or time off that was not pre-planned, such as an illness.

To enter call back pay and record work hours, first access your timesheet by clicking on My Timesheet on the Employee Dashboard:

On-call pay is entered directly on the timesheet for the day you are on-call.

1. After accessing the timesheet using the My Timesheet link on the Mobile Dashboard, select the plus sign to add hours to the timesheet:

Grad students enter substitute hours worked directly on the timesheet and sick leave taken if the time off request process was not used.

Student employees and OSU temps are expected to clock in and out for the work day and meals using the WebClock and use the time off request process for planned sick leave (e.g., doctor appointments).
The time entry process is used for times when clocking is unavailable or to record sick leave that was unplanned.

If you are using a browser on your mobile device (phone or tablet), EmpCenter will automatically direct you to the Mobile site. You will still login using single sign on and Duo multi-factor authentication just as you would with the desktop version.
Please note that if you are seeing the old login screen for EmpCenter you will not be able to access the system. Login is always through single sign on/Duo as of March 2022. If you are not seeing that option, start from the MyTime home page to access the system.

If your submitted timesheet has not been approved, you can recall it to make changes.
You’ll are now able to make changes and resubmit your timesheet.

How you record your time in EmpCenter depends on your policy profile and if the university is open or closed. For the HR policy specific to inclement weather - including details about the types of leave you can use for inclement weather - see the Closures or Curtailment of Operations policy page and the Time Reporting Matrix.

Classified employees may attend the annual Legislative Day and be paid for the day without using accumulated leave. Please note, travel time to and from the session is not included in work time.
You must submit an email or written request to your supervisor and receive approval to attend the session. Supervisors can deny requests based on the needs of the university.
If you do have approval to attend the session, how you record your time for the day is determined by your policy profile.
Classified Salaried Exempt:

If you are a Union Steward, you record time spent on steward responsibilities during your regular scheduled work time in EmpCenter. You still record your work hours as usual (clock, work in/out, or regular hours); the Steward Hours pay code is used to identify the amount of your work time spent on union duties. The process to add the Steward Hours pay code is the same for all classified policy profiles.

If there are problems with an employee’s timesheet, you can choose to reject it and send it back to the employee for changes. Please note, if there are hours on the timesheet the hours will still be sent to payroll during processing even if you reject the timesheet. You will need to follow up with the employee to ensure corrections are made before the pay period closes.

If you work additional hours in a week (over 40 hours work time*), you can choose to be paid the overtime at time and one half your regular rate or receive Comp time – additional time off – at time and one half of hours earned. To be paid the overtime, you do not need to do anything. For additional time off, follow the instructions below.
1. To request Comp time, after entering additional hours worked, choose Overtime Comp Requested from the Pay Code drop down list:

If you earn overtime in a week, you can choose to be paid the overtime at time and one half your regular rate or receive Comp time – additional time off – at time and one half of hours earned.
